Yearbook Avenue
Description
The yearbook course has been designed to provide students with the journalism skills and the
ability to apply those skills to the actual production of the yearbook. Units of study include
teamwork, responsibility, brainstorming, content, coverage, concept, reporting, writing, headlines,
captions, editing, photography, typography, design, graphics, finances, yearbook campaigns,
advertising and distribution.
Actual work results in the current volume of the school’s yearbook. The publication strives to
maintain a tradition of excellence in which the school and the community can take pride.
Mastery of the goals and objectives fully verse staff members in all areas of publication production
and students should be able to pursue journalism with a strong background either in their
advanced studies or in a career.
Evaluation Method
You will be graded on the following categories
Participation
Meeting deadlines
Staying on task
Goals
To produce the best yearbook possible.
To include each student at least three times
To meet deadlines and receive support/funding from the community.
General Rules
1. Bring a positive attitude to class everyday!
2. Students must follow the district Computer Usage policy.
3. Any unexcused absences will result in a zero for that day.
4. Any students found sharing files will receive a zero on that assignment and a referral will be written.
5. The school tardy policy will be followed.
